Highlights
Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day. Students may wear red, white, or pink if they
want. We will also have time at the end
of the day to hand out Valentine cards.
In Math, we are beginning to look at
strategies to add 2-digit numbers. Today
we talked about adding tens to a number (e.g., 42+10=52 or 37+40=77).
During Science, we put the same amount of
water into two cups. One cup is covered
and the other is not. We made
predictions about what will happen to the water over the next few days.
Important Information
Valentine’s Day
For the past two years, we
have allowed time in the classroom at the end of the day for students to hand
out Valentine Cards and/or Kindness Cards and Messages to their
classmates. If you are planning to do
this as a family, and this is absolutely voluntary, please write a card
for every student in the class. Homemade cards are always special, remembering
that the virtue of Kindness, Caring, Friendship and Compassion should be the
focus of the message.
As stated in our Parent
Handbook on page 5:
“Parents please DO NOT SEND
any cakes, cupcakes, or other treats to school. We have too many children with
severe allergies not only to peanuts but to wheat and dye based products. As a
staff we will ensure your child will not receive ‘treats’ or be passed on any
treats brought in by parents to your children. THIS INCLUDES: the distribution
of all ‘treats’ parents wish to distribute on birthdays or for any holidays.
Here is a list of names
of students in our class if you choose to send Valentine cards or notes. We will have our Valentine/note exchange
tomorrow.
