Highlights
In Math we worked on the “doubles plus one” strategy.  For example, when solving 7+6, if a student knows 6+6=12, then 7+6=13 because it is one more.  In Science, we practiced measuring water accurately using a variety of different sizes of measuring cups.  We are learning about verbs and adverbs in Language Arts.

Important Information
-Please note that school activity fees and lunchroom incidental activity fees were due Nov. 16.

-We are collecting items for the Mayor’s Food Drive

Important Dates
Friday, Dec. 1- Alex assembly at 9 am

Homework
-Practice your math doubles (e.g., 1+1, 2+2, 3+3, etc.) and ten friends (e.g., 1+9, 2+8, 3+7, etc.)

Students can play this addition game at home by going to:
-Click on “numbers” near the top of the page
-Scroll down to the section titled Addition/Subtraction.  Click on “number twins”.

-Reading (Students are welcome to use Raz-kids for their daily reading.  Please write the title of the book they read on Raz-Kids on the reading log.)

-Please practice a few spelling words as discussed at parent teacher conferences.  You might try writing a sentence with these words.  Make sure to put a capital letter at the start of the sentence and punctuation at the end. J

Ask me about:
What did you do in gym today?
What can you do to help make sure you measure liquids accurately?  (E.g., place the measuring cup on a flat surface, make sure you look at the cup at “eye level” when measuring)
