Highlights
We read about Terry
Fox and watched a couple of short videos in preparation for the Terry Fox run
next week. We have also been working on
identifying rhyming words. In Science,
we made predictions and tested objects to see which ones would be attracted by
a magnet. We learned that magnets
attract objects made out of iron, nickel, steel or cobalt.
Due to Meet the Teacher
conferences, there is no school for students Friday.
Important Information
This year we are
once again proudly supporting The Terry Fox Foundation in its ongoing work to
fund innovative and progressive cancer research programs. Our Terry Fox Run will
be on September 28 at 2:00pm. Parents are welcome
to join us at the school for the run. You
can make a donation easily online at http://www.terryfox.ca/PanoramaHills.
Thanks for your support!
We will be using the computers next week. You may send personal headphones for your
child to use. Please label the
headphones with your child’s name and put them in a Ziplock or plastic bag.

Ask
me about:
What strategies
can you use to help you figure out a word when reading? (use the pictures,
sound the word out, chunk the word or break it into smaller parts, read to the
end of the sentence and then go back and think about what makes sense)
What did you
learn about Terry Fox?
Will a magnet
still attract a paper clip if you put tin foil over the magnet?
