Highlights
This week we tested
our boat designs in water to see if they would float and carry a load of snap
cubes. We also talked about how we would
change our designs in the future based on what we learned.
In Language Arts, we
used a story organizer to plan a story about a treasure chest. We will begin writing our stories next week.
Our caterpillars have
arrived! We will be watching them turn
from caterpillar to chrysalis to Painted Lady butterflies. We are also observing meal worms.
Caterpillars
In Math, we worked on
measuring the distance around an object using units such as snap cubes.
We also practiced
using our math problem solving skills for the following question:
A bag of candy is on
the table.
How many candies are
in the bag if 2 kids share the candy equally and there is 1 candy left
over? Is there more than one answer?
Important Information
Monday June 3: Field
Trip to Inglewood Bird Sanctuary (Mrs. Snow and Ms. Bain's classes).
If the air quality on
Monday is poor, then modifications will be made and we will spend the majority
of time at the Bird Sanctuary inside.
On
Monday, June 3 please have your child:
-
dress for the weather as half our activities will be outside
-
wear running shoes or comfortable shoes for walking (no sandals)
-
bring a backpack with their lunch, 2 snacks and a water bottle
-
wear any necessary sunscreen, hats, or insect repellent
-
bring any inhalers or epi-pens in their backpacks
Homework
Students will be
designing their own clay plates. Think
about what colours, or symbols you could put on your plate to represent you!
Home reading-students
are encouraged to pick and read “just right” books from the library or from
home. They may also continue to do
Raz-Kids, or read the new home reading books, or the paper books from the
school.
Ask me About:
How can you show
responsible behaviour on the bus and during the field trip?
What symbols or
colours are you going to use on your clay plate? Why did you choose these?
